History

The Credit Union was chartered on January 8th, 1965, and was known as Ypsilanti Federal Credit Union. The original membership included the employees and family members of the Ford Motor Company facilities located in Ypsilanti and Rawsonville. Over the years membership has grown to also include employees at Ford & Visteon from the following plant locations: AutoAlliance Services, Rawsonville, Milan Plastics, Romeo Engine, Saline Plastics, Utica Trim, Wixom Assembly, Ypsilanti and Tower Automotive Employees at the Plymouth, MI plant location.

In March 1981 the Credit Union changed its name to Automotive Federal Credit Union to reflect our expanded membership. The Credit Union has grown tremendously over the years. The Credit Union was originally located in a house on Factory Street in Ypsilanti, it then moved to a quonset hut near the Ypsilanti Plant. Subsequently, the Credit Union moved to an office on Rawsonville Road, and then to an office on Adams Street. The Credit Union moved to the current location on Michigan Avenue in 1976, and was extensively remodeled and expanded in 1989.

The Utica Office was acquired as part of the merger of Highland Park Credit Union in November 1980. The Utica Office was extensively remodeled in 1997.

The Credit Union has grown to over $67 Million in Assets and over 13,000 members. Automotive Federal Credit Union offers a wide range of financial services to the membership.

The Board of Directors and Staff are always excited by the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for Automotive Federal Credit Union as we have been established for over 40 years.

In May 2008, the credit union merged with MPG Community Credit Union in Romeo and became known as Community Driven Credit Union. The credit union can now serve anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Washtenaw or Macomb counties.
